Finding Balance in a 9:00-5:00 life

5 Simple Habits to create more Space, Calm, and Clarity

In today’s fast-paced living, maintaining a good work-life balance can feel very difficult. Between the filled up Gmail inbox, scheduled meetings, and the many phone notifications, most of us rarely slow down and take a moment to breathe. By the end of the day, we can often feel drained. and alienated. Where did our energy go?

Here’s some good news: balance isn’t about quitting your job or reinventing your life. It’s about the small daily habits that help you reconnect with your natural rhythm.

I want to share with you a few practical, down-to-earth habits that promote moments of awareness throughout your day, so that you can calm your mind, reduce energy leaks, and restore your energy during your 9-5 week.

1. Slow It All Down

We often move through the day on autopilot— talking fast, thinking fast, eating fast (maybe in front of the laptop?).

Start by noticing your pace. Slow it all down.

How quickly do you eat, walk, or talk?

Try this: for just one meal or one conversation, consciously slow down. Take smaller bites, pause before replying, and notice how it feels to move through your day with less rush. Even this simple act can lower your stress levels and increase a sense of calm and clarity.

2. Take a Breathing Break Every Hour

Your breath is your most powerful reset button. Set a gentle reminder once every hour to pause and notice your breathing. Is it shallow or deep? Fast or slow?

Take five long, slow, deep, breaths (Check out LSD breathing) —inhaling through your nose, exhaling through your mouth, or even imagining the breath releasing through the soles of your feet. This mindful pause helps you shift from tension to presence, clearing your mind and grounding your body.

3. Nourish yourself with “Empty” Moments

It's OKAY to do nothing at times.

We live in a culture that glorifies being always busy, and doing nothing can make us feel lazy, unproductive, and in a way "unworthy". But space is essential for our creative and inspired Self to arise. Create a few “nothing-to-do” windows during your day.. Even 5 minutes where you simply sit quietly without screens or distractions.

Observe your thoughts without judgment. Feel your body. Notice the sounds around you. These moments of stillness reset your nervous system and remind you that you are more than your to-do list.

4. Raise Your Vibration

Your energy is shaped by what you take in... music, words, conversations, and your interactions. To raise your vibration and stay emotionally balanced:

  • Listen to harmonious, uplifting music (and pay attention to lyrics) - check my Spotify playlists here!

  • Talk about what inspires you, not what drains you.

  • Surround yourself with conscious, supportive people. Set your boundaries: it's OK to say no to draining conversations, gossiping, low-energy complaint-driven talks.

  • Take five minutes each day for conscious breathing or meditation.

  • Go for a slow walk in nature and let yourself truly see, smell, and feel the world around you.

These simple shifts help you stay calm, grounded, and open-hearted, even in a busy workday.

5. Let Go of Overthinking

When you catch yourself overthinking, pause. Don’t fight the thoughts nor judge yourself for having many - that's the nature of the mind! Just observe with curiosity.

Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and say to yourself, “Thank you, mind. Don’t worry, I’m taking care of it.”

This gentle acknowledgment helps you step out of mental loops and back into the present moment. Combine this with slowing your pace or mindful breathing, and you’ll find yourself responding to life more calmly and clearly.

Work-Life Balance Begins in Small Moments

Finding your work-life balance is about making space for small, intentional moments of pause. When you start slowing down your pace, your breath, and your inner dialogue, life naturally begins to soften. It might require some courage initially to go against the mainstream and prioritize yourself and your wellbeing over outer goals, but eventually you will be rewarded for it - and even better, you will find out that it's not an either/or situation! Actually, when you take time for yourself, you have more energy for your business, more inspiration for your work, and better mood for everything you need to face during your day!

I hope this article helped you to find ways to slow down, find balance and reconnect with what really matters: the connection with yourself.

Don't wait for the weekend to come - your life is right here, in this moment. 💜
